Remote Working, or working through cloud systems via the internet, has seen tremendous growth in recent years.

Digital nomads typically work while traveling and can perform their work independent of a fixed location, thanks to the internet.

Some European countries have recognized this new trend and offer very attractive incentives for relocating your residence.

Greece has two programs to attract digital nomads. The application forms are available only in Greek and English, but we are happy to assist with this for you!

  1. Since early 2021, Greece offers a 50% reduction in income tax for a period of 7 years—available only to certain nationalities and with a commitment to residing in Greece for at least 2 years.

    • Must not have been a tax resident in Greece for the last five of the last six years
    • Available for EU/EEA citizens or citizens of countries with a tax cooperation agreement with Greece
    • 50% reduction in income tax and social security contributions. The top tax rate, usually 44% for earnings over €40,000, is reduced to 22%.
    • Exemption from property transfer tax (on the first residential property) and private car use (motor vehicle tax).
  2. Since early October 2021, the "Digital Nomads VISA" (Law 4825/2021) is available for non-EU/EEA citizens. This allows foreign nationals to work remotely for a foreign employer or their own overseas business from Greece.

    • Visa Duration: 1 year with the option to extend twice, totaling up to three years
    • Visa Cost: €75
    • Income Requirement: €3,500 per month, plus 20% for a spouse/partner and 15% for each additional child
    • Additional Benefit: The visa allows travel to all other EU countries.

These programs make relocating to Greece economically attractive. But are the infrastructure conditions in place to support digital work?

Internet connectivity is generally fast in major cities and tourist areas but can be slower on smaller islands and remote areas.

Greece offers all the features digital nomads love: wide-open spaces, freedom, reasonable living costs, plenty of sunshine, good food, decent internet speed, and a rich history and culture.

With the Digital Nomads Visa, Greece wants to send you a warm message: "We warmly welcome you!"

Co-working spaces can be easily found online.

We also offer this opportunity in Pylarinou 66, Korinthos  and we would be delighted to welcome you to our space.
